hi there. i am going through exactly the same thing at the moment. Lady had a stroke 3 days ago and she is still at the vets on a drip. her eyes were doing the exact same thing. they have slowed down but they are still slowly doing it still. i have been visiting her each day crying my eyes out. she is 14. today she is alot better she can actually hold her head up for quite a period of time. she still cant stand for very long. i am praying for a full recovery and that she will be on her feet and walking around soon. i hope your dog is good now. we are making alot of changes around the house for her
take care

Herc our black lab 12 years old hade large amounts of fatty tumors.i had a huge one taken off because it was affecting his breathing.it was behind his front leg on his stomach. the vet did the surgery but told me it was more a blood clot more than a fatty tomor, and to hope for the best. this was 3 months ago. 3 days ago he had a stroke, then 8 hours later he had another one,but massive. i was told on the first one it was a seizer and the vet. wont put anything on medication till the second one over the phone.he was set for an appt. the next day.thats when he had the other stroke 8 hours later. he was taken to the vets unconcious, only to be told they werent seizers they were strokes, and he was unresponsive so their was nothing they could do.i hade him put to sleep.i will always wonder if a fatty tumor could have caused this.i like everybody else "had the best dog"

our 12 year old dog Hercules(the Herc.)a male black lab. he had surgery 3 months ago to remove a fatty tumor, which turned out to be more of a blood clot.he was covered with these fatty tumors but this one was huge behind his front leg, chest, and under the heart.when it was removed the vet. said it was more then just that, it was more like a blood clot, but thought he got most of it and said lets hope for the best.he did run like a puppy again..3 months later he fell to a big stroke, then 8 hours later went to another massive stroke.that put him in a unconsious state. no response at the vets. so i had no choice but to put him down, that was 3 days ago and i like everyone else had the best dog.keep asking myself why?

my dog maggie had a stroke due to lung worm (internal bleeding) she is only a year and a half old and a cavalier king charles, she keeps bobbing her head and she id on steriods. She also has the disease syringomyelia. Initially she kept falling over and bobbing her head, she had and MRI scan and it confirmed that she had had a bleed on the brain and the spine. I am praying she gets better.x
Its heart breaking and tonight she has had a bit of a relapse,

Our 18 month old chihuahua, Pixie, had what looks like a stroke 3 days ago. She had the head tilting, imbalance and eye twitching. Her bloodwork ruled out any other causes.

I called this morning and there hasn't been any changes. She still won't eat or drink on her own so the vet is keeping her at the office on an IV. I'm just sick there hasn't been any improvement, although I am encouraged by your stories of recovery.

Pixie is just so young and healthy that it is hard to understand how this could happen.

Funny you mention massage. I even bought a Homedics $10 massager from Target and both of my dogs love it on their hips. ;-)

I'm so sorry. I'm sure I'll have to do the same thing soon myself. She goes back to the vet next week to put her on a more permanent medication which will hopefully help. I've also looked into doggie massage which I never thought of before so thank you.

Just last month (Dec 08) I had to say goodbye to my best friend of 14 years, Fay Ray! She outlived two strokes and finally her arthritis made her life not worth living. Our journey over the past year included Rimadyl, several months of acupuncture (amazing results) and injections of Adequan. After a while, I felt she was spending too much time visiting the vet and less time greeting me at the door and meeting new people (a lab's favorite pastime). With the advice of family and doctors, I decided that her bad days had outnumbered her good ones and that it was time to say goodbye. Almost as soon as I had made that decision her body followed suit and collapsed on her. In addition to the crippling effects of her arthritis, she had by then lost control of her bowels. I wanted to give her the dignity that she deserved and so I had her put down on a soft sheepskin bed and watched her run off to play with her golden pal, Pearl, in her dreams. While it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, I am confident it was the most humane. As soon as I did I felt a rush of relief come over me (accompanied by sadness of course) and knew that she was no longer in pain.

My 13 year old dog, Fat Har, recently had a stroke also. That along with her bad arthritis is making it super hard for her to get around. And when she does, she seems confused, doing laps around the house or yard. I have faith she will get better but as others who left messages here, I'd love to know if there is anything I can do for her. Did you just wait for Fay to recover or were there things you could do for her other than make her as comfortable as possible.
